New Monomoy school district funding likely

HARWICH — The newly elected school committee for the new Monomoy Regional School District has some promising financial news at its first meeting last week.

The state budget awaiting the governor's signature has funding that makes it "highly likely" the new school district created by Harwich and Chatham voters qualifies for transitional funding to get started, according to committee member Jeffrey Dykens.

He credited state Sen. Dan Wolf, D-Harwich, and state Rep. Sarah Peake, D-Provincetown, for making the regional funding a priority in tight fiscal times.
