Nantucket Housing Authority Awarded DHCD Water Conservation Sustainability Funds

State Senator Dan Wolf and Representative Tim Madden want to extend their congratulations to the Nantucket Housing Authority for being awarded funds through the Massachusetts Department of Housing & Community Development (DHCD) to install low flow toilets and showerheads to save water.  The money, totaling a little over $11,000, will be used to purchase and install 23 toilets and showerheads. Nantucket Housing Authority Executive Director, Renee Ceely, said that the “The Nantucket Housing Authority is pleased to receive this Award from DHCD. Water and sewer charges represent the largest expense item at the Authority. Therefore, this grant will not only conserve water, but reduce waste and save us a lot of money.  We commend the state for thinking money green”. “Every step we take toward conserving resources and reducing energy consumption is a step in the right direction,” said Senator Wolf. “I commend the Housing Authority for setting a great example, and I’m pleased that the state has become a funding partner”. Representative Madden agreed with Senator Wolf and added that “Renee should be applauded for pursuing this grant, as opportunities like this do not happen all by themselves”. This funding will not count against Nantucket’s DHCD Formula Funding Allocation.
